ABOUT THE 2002, 2009 AND 2017 REVISED EDITIONS
The revision of the laws continued with the roll-out of a first supplement to the 2002 Revised Edition, namely, the 2009 Revised Edition. The 2009 Revised Edition took into consideration new enactments to Acts, subsidiary legislation and the Ordinances for Nevis. It was not a general revision as such, and the laws which were not affected in the 2002 Revised Edition therefore remained unchanged, namely the Acts applicable to Saint Christopher and Nevis and the Ordinances for Nevis. In this regard, the first supplement, the 2009 Revised Edition, contained the laws consolidated and revised as at 31st December 2009.
This Edition, that is, the 2017 Revised Edition of the Laws of Saint Christopher and Nevis and Ordinances for Nevis was prepared under the authority of the Law Commission Act, No. 27 of 2012, whereas the two previous revisions were done under the authority of the Law Revision Act No. 9 of 1986. The Law Commission Act repealed and replaced the Law Revision Act as referenced.
The 2017 Edition contains new enactments to the Acts, Ordinances and subsidiary legislation in force in Saint Christopher and Nevis up to 31st December, 2017. Similarly, as obtains with the 2009 Revised Edition, the 2017 Edition is not a general revision as such and the laws as they stood in the 2002 and 2009 Revisions remain unchanged and unaffected to the extent of enactments affecting them.
It must be emphasised here, that the 2002 and 2009 Revised Editions of the laws and Ordinances are not being replaced by the 2017 Revised Edition; this revision is an updated supplement to the laws.
It is the Government’s long-term plan to keep the Revised Edition (2002) of the laws of Saint Christopher and Nevis up to date.
